“Sydney Shaving”: A Safer Alternative to Segmental Bowel Resection for Rectal Endometriosis
This surgical video showcases Dr. Chou’s innovative technique, Sydney Shaving, for managing rectal endometriosis. The procedure involves the strategic injection of a coloured solution into the submucosal layer of the bowel, effectively separating the layers of the rectal wall. This technique allows for precise and safer excision of endometriotic lesions while preserving bowel integrity.
Sydney Shaving offers a less invasive alternative to segmental bowel resection, significantly reducing the risk of complications commonly associated with more extensive surgical approaches.

Neuropelveology Procedure:
Robotic Decompression of Vascular Entrapment of Right Sciatic Nerve
This is a video of the surgical procedure of a lovely young lady from interstate who was suffering from debilitating menstrually and ovulatory exacerbated sciatica with subsequent dramatic resolution of symptoms.
The PDF outlines her history and symptoms before and after surgery.

Dr Danny Chou explains in this invitational lecture how his unique rectal shaving technique for rectal endometriosis, LRSD, also simply called "Sydney Shaving" can avoid the need for more invasive procedures like the disc excision and segmental bowel resection. "Sydney Shaving" borrows the widely used endoscopic surgical technique to simplify the removal of bowel endometriosis in a safer and more complete manner.
He also talks in this lecture about the use of robotic platform for diaphragmatic and sciatic nerve endometriosis.

Dr Danny Chou is a gynaecologist specialising in advanced laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic surgery for complex benign gynaecological conditions. His interests and expertise include laparoscopic and robotic surgery for severe endometriosis, removal of large myoma (fibroid), difficult hysterectomy and complex pelvic floor surgery. Since 2011, Dr Chou has also been passionate about learning Neuropelveology, an exciting new pelvic surgical discipline dealing with diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting pelvic nerves with wide-ranging applications including nerve-sparing excision of endometriosis. Dr Chou had the privilege of being under the tutelage of Prof Marc Possover, the founder of the discipline, and has achieved the International Society of Neuropelveology Level 3 Certification.
